I recently got a set of these, one rear from Fawkes cycles and the front from wiggle. Upon installation I noticed that the one from wiggle looked to be cracked underneath the lacquer as there was a line running around the perimeter under the lacquer, in comparison to the rear which is all smooth black with no such marks. I've been in and around carbon fibre through cars for years so have an idea what I’m looking at and this appeared to be a crack rather than a manufacturing mark. Anyways wiggle replaced it and the replacement is the same. The rear I reiterate has no such marks so I’m wondering if wiggle had a defective batch. I've since reported the second defect to wiggle and am waiting on a response. Annoyingly you can’t seem to buy these in 700c now anywhere. Also on a tangent my continental terra trail tubeless tyres both seem to have a bulge which makes the wheel look buckled but they're not, it’s the tyre. Tried reinstalling them both and same issue. Defective tyres, or are they not compatible with the DT Swiss wheels? I could not see anywhere that they weren't? Thanks.

I have pics if anyone can host.

I've been running GRC's for a few years now on my gravel/bikepacking rig. I'm a pretty chunky monkey and there's not many other carbon gravel hoops out there with a 130 KG weight limit.

They've held up fine, one broken spoke but that was due to a stick getting caught up in there so not really the wheel's fault. Bearings are still smooth etc etc.

If that 'crack' was in the same place then it is probably the join between 2 sheets of carbon and not a fault but see what they say.

As for the tyres, I'd check that they're Hookless compatible I know some tyre brands are a bit funny about them and I seem to recall Conti being one of them. I run Schwalbe G-Ones which have been great and a have a friend who's got Terravails on his with no issues.

Thanks. Checked again tonight defo a crack as it’s starting to run down the rim too. Livid. Really pi**ed off that there is no more stock anywhere either. Not what I expect when paying close to £2k for wheels. I’ve emailed madison / dr Swiss too so see what they say. Gutted 🙁

Send them back and buy some far sport, winspace or light bycicle wheels instead and use more than £1000 for a trip away to ride your bike somewhere warm.

The whole point of buying branded is for quality which your not getting so instead your paying for marketing and hype.

Give it ten years and these will be the big brands in wheels and a lot more expensive.

With your budget I'd buy winspace with carbon spokes
