Hi
im after a new pair of wheels and was going to splash out on Hope Pro 4s on Stans Arch. But CRC have DT Swiss E1700s on offer at the moment
Any opinions / experiences on the E1700 would be appreciated
Thanks in advance
I have the E1900, one down from E1700 and they’ve been good wheels to be fair. Bearings weren’t the best but replaced with some good quality ones. Ive given them a fair bit of abuse and still holding up strong. I’d buy again.
I've had e1900's since May and ridden the bike at least once a week every week. Going through some thicker mud recently and all still spinning fine. Completely true despite some clumsy hammering though rock gardens etc and a jumps course at BPW.
Also makes a pleasing clicking noise from the freehub, without being as noisy as Hope hubs which in my mind are a bit too loud.
E1700 use the DT350 hub with the ratchet system, E1900 uses the hub with pawls.
350 hubs very well thought of, bulletproof, well sealed with good bearings, 18 point hub engagement is easily upgradeable to 36 or 72 points. Don't know what the rims are, but if 25mm is wide enough for you, you're ok with straight pull hubs and the wheels meet your weight requirements, then I'd pick the E1700's over Hope/Stans.
There was another thread about this the other day too - some more responses on there if you search for it.
Friend has been riding some for the last 6 months. His line choices are often interesting.....
Superb wheels though. Took his abuse perfectly well (which is a miracle in itself) and he wouldn't be fussy on maintenance at all.
Cheeky plug here, I am selling a brand new set of Dt Swiss E1650 if you are interested. Same as the 1700 but with 30mm ID rims
Digging mine so far. Running WT Minions on them no worries.
Thanks for responses
Ichabod I may be interested in your wheels
