Got a DT Swiss 350 hub and trying to remove the freehub but won't budge. Normal instructions say this is "tool free" and just pull it off or comes off with the cassette, but not for me.

This might be because I've got a 10mm through axle on it?

There doesn't seem to be end caps on this, or at least freehub end the cap is part of the axle. The other end not sure as seems there's a line inside indicating it might come off separately, but can't seem to get it off.

The end caps come off, but they are often tight. Had to use a vice to grab them and pull the hub to get them off mine, freehub came off easy afterwards.

we do a lot of Dt servicing and the end caps often require aluminium alloy wheel axle clamps in the vice to wiggle them off the axle

I have DT350 rear hub with a 10mm thru bolt. I left the cassette on and pulled on that to give me something to hold onto, it was on quite tight but came off eventualy

Yeah, I tried that as several people said it worked but wasn't budging, even though the cassette was firmly jammed on. I guess that would pull the end cap off with it. I've taken the cassette off now though.

And looking at it, does seem end caps both ends.

Saw a video on taking the freehub off which suggested axle clamp but suggests using it for the freehub itself. End caps just popped out totally loose.

I'll try something like that. Either DIY clamp or resort to buying one. Looking at Park Tools, there's a simpler one AV1C (just for axles?) and more expensive AV5 (axles and other things?).

I just clamped mine directly in the vice. Only got some tiny marks on them. Just pull straight and it shouldn't scratch up.
