Just picked up some wheels for my Dad, DT Swiss 340 hubs, 6-bolt disc, ratchet model. But I didn't realise his bike was 11 speed and the rear hub is 10...
So, from what I can tell I may either be able to get him a new 11sp freehub, or I can get a 105 11sp 11-34 cassette and a new rear mech if needed
What I can't work out is if the former is feasible -- can a DT 340 hub be converted with a new freehub? Seems hard to find info on the 340's
Thanks
I’ve just had a similar issue, you could put an 11spd mtb cassette on but you might need a new mech to deal with the range. If it’s a 2 pawl hub you cant change the free hub if it’s a 3 pawl or ratchet you can. Look for a dt Swiss how to identify your hub video on YouTube or Dt Swiss site. I think a 340 is a 2 pawl so cant be changed to 11spd freehub. You can however get a HG800-CS 11-34 cassette. Ultegra level but will work on a 10 spd free-hub you just leave the spacer off. You add the spacer for an 11 spd, it has the dished rear carrier like the mtb ones. A standard GS rear derailleur should cope with the range too.
there was also an article on cycling tips about this cassette and another on road cc about increasing the range for a gravel bike using an slx cassette
sorry a bit detailed but took me ages to find out the above and ended up asking Dt Swiss and he directed me to cassette then found the other info. I’ve ordered the cassette but haven’t set anything up yet.
hope it helps
Not same hub but I got 11 speed free hub for set of giant wheels(made by dt swiss) few years back.
