My dt Swiss 240s hub a metal spacer that sits on the drive side axle flush to the hub bearing (this is with freehub off)
When I've serviced and cleaned in the past this axle spacer has slid off given a clean and regrease like all other parts
However its now suddenly seized on to the axle, doesn't spin independently from the from the axle just spins with the axle...
It used to just slide off no problem at all
So is it going to cause a issue? It's sat and stuck where its supposed to be but not even sure what it's for and whether it's going to cause issues in the future?
It's the same as that and the guys thread on mtbr doesn't have a answer really and I've msgd him see if he sorted it out but no reply
It's only there to stop the ratchet mechanism getting crushed when the hub is tightened up in the dropouts and keep the ratchets aligned.
It doesnt rotate in use so having it fixed onto the axle is not inherently a problem but it could be a symptom of a bent axle or some other issue.
Oh, and it'll be a pain the next time you need to change bearings.
As above. It us just a spacer but I'd be getting in there with some degreaser to get it released.
It'll probably come off no bother with a bearing change, few taps on the axle to drive it out towards the nds will leave it behind. Probably.
Thanks guys as I thought really not a issue in use at present but will be a issue when changing bearings
I tried tapping/smashing out the axle from the drive side to see if it budge it off the axle but didn't move
With freehub off and axle exposed drive side should hitting the axle push it out the other side or is there something else stopping it from pushing the non drive side axle out?
