If any fellow riders have enjoyed a visit to our local bike trails at Drumlanrig Castle and/or are hoping to visit again, would you mind dropping an email to that effect to info@drumlanrigcastle.co.uk. The estate are not putting any effort into clearing the trails so it would help if they know how much they are missed and visited.

Cheers

Are they trashed at the minute? Was planning a trip up there later in the year 🙁

Done - and we were indeed thinking of a weekend in Galloway in a fortnight!

Good morning

I am planning an Easter trip in a week and was hoping to pop in to make use of the (great) trails you have. Can you confirm that the trails are open and clear please - I know the storms caused much damage.

Thank you

Luv n kisses

I'm going to be controversial and say it's not worth the effort.

I used to love a spin around Drumlanrig, as it was all about spinning as fast as possible around the tight twisty root covered singletrack, but having ridden there at the end of last year for the first time in quite a while, I left feeling it was a waste of time and effort with zero desire to return.
New jumpy section was poor (having to pedal uphill into jumps doesn't really work - the older jump sections are just as bad for getting enough speed to clear anything), and the best bits down by the river had been permanently shut, with the new section under construction looking rather bland.

As it stands, I'd rather drive the extra 10 minutes to Ae and brutalise myself spinning around the Red loop, or throwing myself down the off-piste stuff, and be able to finish with a decent BLT and slice of cake in the café.

I've always though it was quite good but the diversions and missing sections did ruin it quite a bit the last time I went. Hopefully that can be remedied whilst the storm damage is being cleared.

Good afternoon Matt

Thank you for your email and apologies for the late reply, our office has been hit with covid.

The forestry teams continue to work hard to make the area safe but the trails remain closed at this time. It’s just such a vast area its taking some time. Updates will be provided on our social channels, website and via our newsletter when they are available.

Thank you for your patience,

lun n kisses
