When I gravelised my Soul I put an old Thompson 31.6 seat post on instead of the dropper. However I can't get it to stay up. It has a Hope seat clamp but no amount of tightening seems to keep it up.
Any suggestions? I had no problems with the previous Reverb.

Carbon paste is the first thing to try.

As much as I am a Hope Fanboy, their seat clamps are universally poo.

Salsa LipLock or FlipLock if you can find one in the correct size. Surly Constrictor for belt and braces security.

If you haven’t already, reverse the clamp so the bolt is the opposite side to the slot.

Thomson posts are renowned for being slightly undersized and hope seat clamps aren't very good. Not the best combo to be using 🙂
As someone else has mentioned already, try some carbon grip paste.

+1 to both. If you search for "slipping post" threads most of the time it'll be a Thomson. Non dropping seatposts are so cheap (now that they are obsolete 🙂 ) I'd just replace it. Just pop a wanted ad up and you'll probably get one for postage. If you do want to persist with it then a decent clamp like a salsa may help

I think I had a problem with a Hope seat clamp where I had to get a g clamp and squeeze it to make it work. Has been fine since.

Those hope clamps do need a good cleanup with some degreaser and very fine grit sandpaper occasionally to smooth things off.

I was finding prior to the cleanup that it was so hard to close I assumed it must also be clamping really tightly.  My mistake, it was barely doing anything and it was all down to friction in the clamp itself.
