So, out riding this weekend and was only bragging to my buddy how faultless my reverb has been for 18months and that I should get it serviced as it’s now well overdue! Then as if someone was looking down on me, it started to sag almost within he hour! I now have a massive scratch/gouge all the way down the back of the stanchion...it’s goosed! Now up until this reverb i had been a serial killer of them (5 in total on warranty i think at last count) I have also killed a brand x dropper.

so in the market for another dropper, and wondered what the latest ‘trend’ was. Needs to be 31.6 and 150mm drop ideally. Like the look of the one up but never seen one in the flesh.

Brand X stealth thingy, if you’re going to kill ‘em, kill ‘em cheap.

Although they’re so silly easy to maintain with a modular design you can buy bits for, so are they ever dead, dead?

Both my reverbs died in the same week so I'm going with the brand x (£105 @ ubyk) as mentioned above. Now sure how good it is but they carry a 2 year warranty. There's PSA on Evans reverbs in the forum if that's what your going for.

I keep hearing that cartridge based droppers like the Brand X or One up etc have easily replaceable Cartridges. Has anybody actually seen a cartridge for sale?

Brand X Stealth here, so far about 18months in and I've not had to do anything other than one new cable.

Simple, reliable and cheap to replace.

I like the one up and the fox transfer - both have been reliable - one up is cheap and you can buy the spare cartridges..

Reverbs - I have 4 with various sags and other issues....

I like the Revive, we have a few. Expensive, but reliable and really easy to completely rebuild at home.

I had a Yep uptimizer for four years - no issues at all.

As per my original post I have had several Brand X droppers and killed one. It’s an option but want to listen to other options. Not sure about the revive, have heard (maybe unfairly) that they can sometimes need the bleed function to be operated mid use when uplift trailers are being used? Transfer is great I’m sure the lever is rubbish I’m told and wolftooth levers seem dear making the whole setup quite expensive

The Revive lever takes all of 4 seconds to use, especially as it comes with a little plug in lever.

Do you need to carry the lever with you then?

You can do the revive with a 4mm Allen key, bit mine only needed doing once or twice in several months of riding.

Got a one up for my latest build, not much between them in use and considerably cheaper plus a bit easier to setup.

Would buy again.

What remote did you use with the OneUp? Is the standard remote any good?

Also where the hell are people buying the oneups from in the U.K, Evans have them listed with £30 off but for preorder and I just don’t actually see them ever turning up with what’s going on there. Plus I need a post sooner rather than later

Never had a problem as such wit Reverbs, they last about 18 months for me too before needing a full service, but every time I've sent one back to SRAM for a service they've sent me a brand new one back, so can't really complain. But the last time one went I was away for a weekend so got a Brand X from the nearest bike shop I could find. Not the best price I could have got but it was an emergency. So far it's standing up well. Works as well as a reverb, so just waiting to see how long it lasts for.

@P-Jay, that’s good to know. I know the KS ones are reasonably available too. I’d want to check first and have a spare in the tool box.

I like to be able to rebuild my droppers rather than play the warranty waiting game.

I like the Spesh command post , it’s simple inside and any Spesh dealer can get bits for it. No sealed cartridge and when it does misbehave it will still lock into its positions just might need a hand.

Only 30.9mm though or 34.9 with the odd wu version

I have an ancient 2012 Reverb that is still fine and have had a variety of other reverbs over the years. Mostly I’m a KS fanboi though.

I can’t get away from a thought that some people seem to be really lucky with droppers and others not, and surely there must be a correlation and also that whenever there’s a trend on here that a different post has become the One True Dropper there’s a swathe of ‘I broke my...’ posts a year-18mo later. Possibly this boils down to some people need to view droppers as consumables? No digs at anyone intended, simply observation compared to personal experience which is all forum posts ever are.

the post was asking for what people’s current post du jour is. My reverb has been faultless for 18months! Absolutely spot on in fact, no need for a bleed. It’s overdue a service (my fault) and afte 1 ride the stanchion is now completely scrap

like I said I have been unlucky with earlier reverbs, but learnt not to pick the bike up whilst the post was dropped (that’s the trick) regardless on the autopsy of my current post, the fact is it’s done well and if it have of been serviced sure it would have continued...but who knows!

My question is what next...? It’s been a few years since I bought a dropper that didn’t come with a bike. I have had brand x droppers, which are OK (but had to return under warranty) I like the OneUp but no one stocks them it seems and unsure about the lever, crank bros I wouldn’t touch unless it was pedal shaped, Fox looks bloody expensive....

I like the KS Lev Integra. Never had any issues and can be had with the nice under bar remote.

Oneup direct or I think mine, which was a present, came from ubyk using the prem member discount.

Not installed it yet, waiting for new frame so no idea how good it is.

I've got a Kore 150mm which is interesting as a quick google suggests it doesn't exist...

you can buy the one up from their (international) website - they come within a week - their own lever is ok - better than fox's but the wolfrace LA much better imo.

Op do you like crisp shifters and tactile brakes and stuff that generally keeps working despite frequent intense neglect? You do? Thomson Elite is what you're looking for

The less expensive droppers are ok but I CBA with play and temperamental behaviour and repairs. The Thomson also makes a great sound as it extends

for the sake of a 20 quid mud hugger your reverb would be fine, Droppers I have

Reverb

Thomson

Transx

Brandx

KS Lev Integra

KS Dropzone

the Integra is the lightest and operates as good as the thomson - but whatever you get make sure you protect it properly

Yes it's very good.

Also where the hell are people buying the oneups from in the U.K,

This is the downside of it being the dropper post du jour. 😉

Other benefits include notably lower stack height at the collar and saddle, allowing more drop for those of us with stumpy legs - the Orange rep was quite surprised that I have a 170mm dropper on an 18in frame with my 29in inside leg. It doesn't even need to be totally slammed.

Sounds like the OneUp is what I need then. I’m riding a trek 19.5” frame with an equally stumpy 29” inside leg measurement. A 150 reverb is slammed so I guess a 150 OneUp is probably the safest shout

If you are Ok with a 150mm reverb now then you'll manage a 170mm Oneup.

You can always shim it down if need be.

Is there really 20mm difference between the reverb and one up? I will have to do some research I think

That's not terminal russyh (I've had same thing) and was more than likely caused by the coating on the rear of the topcap bushing being worn away/failing-could just wet and dry it smoove again and chuck a new topcap or DIY bushing in and it will be fully functional again.

As far as I’m concerned it’s dead to me. If anyone wants it to repair I would happily be relieved of it for a small sum. Alternatively it will sit in the garage until such time as I find another borked reverb with a Clean stanchion and canabolise

I'll run a tape measure over the relevant bits tomorrow, but I'm pretty sure there is.

2 revives here and faultless so far.

But just done a little hardtail build to try out and I’ve bought an Xfusion matrix of crc 150 drop for £170 remote lever seemed a ok, but I had a wolftooth in the draw so have used that and it also has a spring on the release part of the post so action is very smooth and very easy to use. Not ridden in anger yet but it seems a nice bit of kit for that money and reviews all seemed to think it’s a good post. Worth checking out on there

So One Up 150mm ordered. 170 was out of stock and I think would’ve been pushing my luck. Thanks for all the help guys.

So Oneup Dropper arrived fitted and used! Boy what a lovely bit of kit. The action is so smooth and light. Well chuffed. Wish they had a 170mm in stock now mind as i could've easily ran one even on a 19.5" frame.
