Hi all
Could somebody help me out with what total length dropper seat post will fit my medium 2018 Spectal 9 SL?

I need a 125mm drop but unsure on what total length I need???
351mm or 414mm??

Measure how much you can stick your current seatpost into the seattube. This gives you your maximum insertion. Then measure the distance between the seat collar and your saddle rails at normal pedalling height.

Add those together and you have your potential max total length, although you need to check the position of the dropper collar relative to the saddle rail to make sure you can accommodate it if you are short of leg and have a low pedalling height. If you are tall, you need to make sure that your post goes past the minimum insertion on your frame.

This chart is a bit out of date, but it will give you an idea of which dimensions to seek out for your chosen dropper relative to your frame.

PS and remember you may have to allow for clearance for the actuation mechanism and a not-too kinked cable if it is internally routed. Some manufacturers do not include this in their figures.

EDIT: Canyon gives the maximum seatpost insertion as 245mm on a medium spectral. A 125mm Reverb, for example, is listed at 420 total length and will fit comfortably in that frame all the way down to the collar.
