The plan is to fit a dropper to my wife's bike, a Kona Dawg Pro (in actual fact, the test bike used by STW back in the day). Maybe I'm a bit slow, but I can't find a dropper with a suitable diameter to fit, 30.0 mm. Does anyone have any suggestions?
27.2mm & a shim would be your only option.
gravity dropper make a 30.0 post that doesn't need a shim.. (I think they're the only manufacturer that do..)
But you will need to order it from the usa..
And It's not exactly cheap and you'll likely get stung by customs charges too..
I'd go 27.2 and a shim..
KS offer 27.2 size. Plus a USE shim?
Might be worth speaking to 18bikes in hope (or maybe other places too).
I sold my old kona howler, and dropped it off with them for the new owner to have the seat tube bored out to 30.9mm for a dropper. I think the dawg is pretty similar front end so might be a way round this.
If getting it bored to 30.9 is an option I'd go for that. Then you'll have a choice of better posts for less money.
