my drive train is making a clicking sound on only the higher gears. the lower gears run silent. when I put it in the big ring it seems to make it worse.
its not too loud but it sounds rough.
its a road bike with a 2x10
all drivetrain has recently been removed and degreased too.
any ideas guys/
Front mech alignment, i have this when i changed to 2x9 on my MTB. It took a bit of messing about to fix.
front mech cable hitting crankarm?
what is the frequency of the click (eg once/twice per crank rev). and is it the same frequency whatever gear you're in?
its not the cable.
the frequency is like 'tick,tick,tick' per 1 rev of the crank. seems to be worse in big ring. also big ring and high gear feels a little rough (through the pedals)
Worn cassette?
my best guess is the rear mech cable adjustment is out slightly. no idea of you skill level - do you know how to do it yourself?
Front mech alignment
Sounds like it to me - outer edge of the chain fouling the inside of the front mech.
Remove, grease and re-tighten the chainset bolts. I had this the other week - found out that one of them was loose - problem solved!
- Chainring bolts are loose
- BB is on the way out
- pedal/s are a bit loose
- the gimble on the end of your laces is hitting the frame and crank
- the reflector in the wheel is loose
- (there's a massive crack in your frame)
ditto crapknees - I had this & it was a loose chainset bolt. Sadly it was low down my list of things to look at so took ages to eradicate rest.
Worn front rings?
on closer inspection it seem when the chain leaves the rear mech it doesn't laydown on the tooth of the cassette square on. so it almost clicks onto the cassette every few links of the chain.
not sure why it doesn't do this on the higher cogs of the cassette though?

try this:
use top gear (large front-small rear.)
slacken cable until the first click on the rh shifter is ineffective.
perform said first click.
with back wheel off the ground, slowly take up the slack in the cable whilst slowly turning the pedals until the gear shift happens.
you should now be indexed.
Rear hanger might be slightly bent, I had this recently and it only threw the large cogs out of alignment.
Alternatively small miss adjustments in cable tension tend to be amplified in the big cogs, could try adjusting cable tension via barrel adjusters.

Silly one, but have you made sure your quick release on the rear wheel is done up tightly? I had something similar to this a while ago and it went away as soon as I tightened it up
