hi all, a while ago I went 1-10 on my rockhopper as it's generally my commute / light ride around bike, albeit the most frequently used bike and covers the most miles. My set up is zee with an slx spider crank (dt swiss xc1600 wheels) and kmc chain. The zee crank is more or less new so won't need changing. But I think the rest is starting to slowly go on me and using a chain wear checker things are looking a little dismal 🙁

So I assume I would need a chain and cassette as a minimum, but am not adverse to throwing in a new mech as well (it is christmas after all)

Are there any deals about? I have seen SLX group on merlin for £299 but already have slx brakes and zee crank so 2/3 of that won't be needed and don't want the faff of re-seeling

Or are there any "better" options out there?

Well, do you really need to change anything??
Are you getting really bad chainsuck, or is the chain slipping when you put power down. I'd not bother until it was really knackered!
However if you do swap, yes a chain and cassette are neccasery, you could get away with just changing jockey wheels on the mech. Again, unless they look like throwing stars I wouldn't bother!

No reason to replace the mech unless it's actually broken. Chain for sure, maybe cassette if you've not changed the chain in time, possibly chainring but probably not, single rings are much more tolerant of wear than shifting parts.

So you already have 10spd and the drivetrain is just a bit worn? As above, run it into the ground and then replace the chain, cassette and chainring´; maybe £50-70's worth of stuff, not £300. No need for anything else, usually.
