I'm thinking on drilling my 2015 Orange Five 29er for an internal dropper, I asked a friend frame builder and he said it will be fine to drill the down tube next to the head tube (that's how newer Oranges have it routed).
Has anyone done it? How did you do it? Advices/suggestions?
I've read about using a round needle file instead of a drill, but can't think of how that would work.
I think some people have said to drill two smaller holes and file them out so you've got a lozenge shape. This allows the cable to go in almost parallel to the tube rather than at right angles.
Quite a few threads on here about drilling the seat tube, not sure so many people have drilled the down tube near the head tube. How would you route it around the BB and up the seat tube?
It has a reinforcement welded between the seat and down tube, I need to check if there is room ther to pass the cable, otherwise I might just drill the seat tube.
Don't know about orange but it's an easy job. A dremel helps a great deal.
Do you use the dremel to do the initial holes?
Nah drill two holes about a cm apart, dremel out a slot.
