just sold a frame and wouldn't mind keeping the Shimano press fit, BB92 i think, as the buyer doesn't want it.

i should be able to knock it out, right, if i'm careful?

had a brief try, but couldn't see any movement.

Nope you have to destroy to remove. Unless you have specific puller etc

Ah, I thought I was just being ham-fisted by always smashing up my press-fit BB when I removed it with the fancy park tools splayed pole tool. Glad to hear I'm not alone.

I recycled a pressfit FSA ceramic BB through 3 bikes over 3 years. Drifted out with a non specific tool each time. I'd probably still have it if I hadn't moved to 30mm cranks.
You often have to whack harder than you feel comfortable though but keep working around the circumference of the plastic and avoid the bearings themselves.

Going to get one of those Chinese blind puller sets off ebay as bashing a screw driver to drift out a press fit bearing in a carbon shell is too nerve wracking.

Be really bloody careful if drifting it out.

I've got a nasty gouge/burr in a bearing surface from going hard and slipping on a plastic one. My first time removing one a good while back and got impatient as I was tired.

The **** of it is that I replaced the plastic SRAM thing with a nice Hope one but the burr caused perpetual clicking under load so I'm back on the plastic stuff until I can figure out a way of removing the burr without damaging the rest of the bearing surface.

Ive gently drifted out the pf BB's I've had to remove. That said they've been drifted out to replace them so can't remember if they were trashed after the process.lol

ok fine, thanks everyone. I don't care that much about keeping it. hoping not to need one next frame anyway.
