After seeing a thread last week discussing this and finding out that Gnusmas won (brilliant news) it got me thinking. I’ve pretty much always bought bikes and / or parts used or had them kindly donated. If I had £6k to spend on a bike I genuinely don’t know what I’d do.

It would probably be buy a new Cotic, Stanton or frame from Swarf. Either a full suss or a Ti HT (always had a hankering for a Ti HT). Build up the frame or spec with sensible components, good fork, shock and wheels and then get a second bike (vagabond, stooge or something similar) and do a cheap build to cover everything other than MTB. Either that or go mad with anodised Hope bits and build a ridiculously pimped our ride that I’d never use for fear of damaging it

What would the rest of you do?

Test ride a new Bronson to make sure it’s the right replacement for my V2. And then upspec a Bronson C GX build in the right places. Also interested in test riding a Pivot and a Rallon.

I dunno either. Possibly a very nice road bike.

Maybe the new RocketMax, pending a test ride. Or see if Starling would make me a 170mm version of the Murmur.

Otherwise I'd be happy with the £3,500 Radon Swoop 29er and a few spec changes just to be fussy.

2x cross bikes and a couple of nice tubular wheelsets for them.

Or whatever ~£5k xc fs race bike takes my fancy, a power meter and a dropper post

3 or 4 On One, Planet x bikes 🙂 With the added bonus that I could come on here and complain about the paintwork/seatube/customer service etc.

I would probably go for a really nice Starling Murmur; Ideally a shorter travel one. Maybe a 130mm 29r from Starling.

Or go the complete other way and have a Canyon Spectral On E-Bike.

Pretty sure you can have a bike (s), but not a pile of parts. If that was the case I’d use the change for some nice road wheels.

Probably a Last Glen or Cotic Rocketmax as I am looking at both of these at the moment!

Sell my existing bike and give the cash and the 6k to my lbs to build a nice one of a kind full custom ti framed, pinion drivetrain, Lauf fork equipped fat bike.

Interesting.

What’s mental, is you can’t go to one of the big guys, pick the model that suits your riding and say to your friendly LBS, ‘I’ll have the best one’. As £6k doesn’t guarantee you the top spec one now...

Tom,

I rode a Murmur the other week and I would instantly have swapped my SC Hightower for it in a heartbeat. It looked beautiful and felt so, so quick.

And I adore my Hightower. Hands down the best bike I have had.

A tandem.

Or a custom 853 hardtail, 120mm fork, bigish tyres, non boost, QR, Rohloff, modern-ish geo, rack mounts.
In metallic purple.

I'd spend £6k on personal trainer and life long swim tennis and gym membership to then be able to utilise mtbs to get back into peak dh jump fitness.

Ahhhh bitd!
😏
