Getting ready to attempt my first wheel build. Is there a downloadable idiot version available or any other recommendations for a newbie? Cheers

I found Wheelpro very easy to follow and it made building wheels very straightforward.

I've never built a wheel, but I watched these Youtube videos  the other night, and found them interesting.  I'm not sure if he does things exactly right, but it was certainly good to get an idea of how it's done.

Lacing wheel

Tensioning wheel

Combination of Sheldon and Zinn got me sorted OK. Took an age but good to have it completed and fine.

[Edit} to be fair, Zinn is not downloadable - easily - possibly not on spec..

Musson +1 for me too - although there’s only really one chapter you need for a walkthrough of building. The rest of the book is useful to have read though.

Musson - two chapters really: lacing and tensioning, but the rest is interesting anyway.

I use the wheelpro guide but I basically only use the lacing pages- still totally worth it though.

The main thing to remember is, it's miles easier than you'd think. I think most people who have a crack at building, will already have done wheel truing or tensioning on used wheels and it's so much easier to build a new wheel with a new rim, they want to be straight.
