I sold my (much-loved, light and fast, SLX equipped) Cannondale Caad3 MTB a year ago. I keep the Vagabond ATB for most duties and it's great for most types of do-it-all riding . Problem is a recurring muscle injury has had me off-piste most of this year (Doc's orders) and I also miss riding with a biking buddy on hilly trails

Big climbs on the (2x10) Vagabond are still a push too far for the foreseeable but I just bagged a v cheap yet mechanically sound Cannondale F6 Disc with an Alivio triple setup and Dart forks. After a trundle-test it seems not too shabby at all (albeit obviously heavier) and it fits well enough and all works so I can (hopefully) at least climb on it (slowly in granny gear) without re-tearing the adductor.

Anyone else downgraded to and liked (even loved?!) a lower-end bike? Either through change in riding habits or budget? And how to avoid upgrade-itis? (Already looking with disdain at the rust spots on fork stanchions 😯 )
