Has anybody had any practical experience with transporting, say, a baby in a car seat plus a toddler in a cargo bike? Or two toddlers? Or two small children?
I can see that all this is easy with the Workcycles KR8 but I'm reluctant to buy an upright bike that weighs 40 kilos.
Larry vs Harry Bullit looks to be almost certainly too small.
Douze extra long might work.
Anyone?
Hiya....
I have been running my kids around in my Yuba Mundo for a few years now. I have twins and an older child.
From around 18months the twins were on the back, and sometimes just one of them, with my older boy on there too!
The front seat unclips in seconds and i use a frame 'seat' pad with the older one holding the stoker bars.
Bonus is, that my wife also gets on the back and i can pedal a variety of loads around. With the little people on board it's very stable when moving, and not too unweildy when stopped. With an adult on the back, you do have to get your feet down pretty solidly to avoid swaying.
The boys all LOVE being on the back. Now the eldest is 8yrs, he just jumps on the running boards and hangs on while the twins both sit directly on the rack now, with no special seats, just pop-up back rests with lap straps.
mail me if you want any specific info, or links to good set-ups for the back of the bike.
Wowzers, that actually looks really good. Two full-on child seats. I'll have a little look on the web. I hadn't spotted the running boards in the photo until you mentioned them. Even better. Thank you - maybe this is the way.
Slightly worried about it being topply. Probably ok for me but I was hoping my wife might enjoy riding children around in a cargo bike.
This is a new avenue anyway - thanks again.
Highly rate the Yuba, the centre stand and is v wide and stable.
recommend going to somewhere like Really Useful Bikes in Yate or Practical cycles and trying several different bikes

You're right to be concerened about your wife being strong enough to hold the bike up. When both kids are on the bike and it's moving, its great to ride and very stable. But, when coming to a stop, it can be tricky to balance. once you got the hang of it, it's just about technique and she'll probably be able to manage it. You also need to tell the little monsters to sit still when you come to a halt.
As said above, the centre stand is VERY solid, and happily holds both boys upright while sitting on the bike.
The bike is very heavy, so you wont be taking it up any stairs or steps unless, like me, you are built like a lowland Gorilla.
If you are near Brighton by any chance, you're welcome to come throw a leg over and try it out.
I got mine fro Zaynan at Practical cycles, who was very helpful.
The Yuba is actually quite cheap for what you get, but i'd be aware of the finishing quality of the frames. Mine had several mis-aligned threaded holes, and a runner mount position which had been welded off-line. I got round the issues, and Practical were great at sorting this out.
Thank you, that's kind. In Eastbourne this weekend actually but preoccupied with a race.
I think if the Yuba is at all droppable with children on the seat then my wife would not be keen. She generally drops things that are droppable. She is a genius but she is not super-agile or confident on the bike, particularly since picking up a life-changing knee injury from an innocuous fall.
Douze for us I fear (provided the steering feels ok). Pain in the wallet.
