I need some double sided tape to re-affix chainslap protector to chainstays. They are carbon so I believe I need to make sure it is silicon free? Obviously want some strong stuff. Anyone got any recommendations?

I found this stuff at Halfords: http://www.halfords.com/motoring-travel/cleaning-body-repair/adhesives/halfords--double-sided-tape--hst109#tab1 but not sure what else is out there

The foamy stuff you have linked to should be fine. It's normally an acrylic pressure sensitive adhesive which sticks well.

The carbon - silicone worry is during curing when silicone can inhibit the cure.

Would it not be simpler just to buy another chainstay protector?

Gary - I know what you mean, but Chainstay protector is £14.95 plus postage. There's nothing wrong with the original (it was part of frame) other than it peeled off a bit and slowly ingress of dirt and riding pulled it off to the extent I took it off. I'm hoping double sided tape (which is what it was stuck on with anyway) is a more cost effective approach.

I understand why you're trying to fix it myopic, its always better to try to fix than just bin things but from my experience once these things start to peel they don't stick back.

No one has mentioned an old inner tube yet 🙂

I used Sugru to stick mine down again. Next time I'll just replace it with Sugru!

The one you mentioned will be thick and foam-like with adhesive film each side but work well. If you want thinner then just get a double sided tape. The foamy stuff I'd nice as it conforms better and has a bit if cushioning.

Oh and check eBay for cheap lengths
