Hi All
I am in a quandary at the moment about bike choice for this year’s gravel dash. Now I know this will be a ‘personal choice’ thing, but I like to canvass opinions 🙂 right, salsa Fargo ti with my trusty Maxxis 29er plus chronicles on (comfortable and reliable, will get me there); Reilly gradient with 650b 42mm resolutes on (will get me there a bit quicker, potential for death slightly increased). Both are running sram hydraulics. I think I am second guessing myself, I had settled on the salsa!! I am doing the 100 in a day!

Strangely first and second time i did it, i was on (Steel) Fargo, for the third time i'm going to be on my Gradient
I'm doing the 50:50 - comfort wins so I'll be doing it on my short travel 29er (Canyon Nerve).
Scud, what tires are you (ab)using for the ride ? I’d hate to turn up in a matching outfit 🙂 I am still leaning more towards the salsa, but the gradient would look resplendent as I fly over the handlebars on Dorset gravel 😂

I’ve done 50:50 and 100 on gravel bike, hard tail and Xc full sus. In hard baked summer conditions on the 100 the full sus was a winner for me.
I'll be doing the 100 for the second time on my (recently repaired) homemade steel 29er hardtail. The number of broken CX bikes we saw a couple of years ago makes me think they are not ideal for the rocky Purbecks descents.
@i'll be on WTB 45c Riddlers probably unless peeing down with rain, then it'll be something with a bit of tread...
I've done it on a CX bike and a fat bike - top 10 both times - there's nothing really technical but some tracks are fairly choppy. I did pass a lot of people on the first big descent on my fatty having been the last to leave the Red Lion. 29+ probably ideal
Okay, so I think (as I am going for the camaraderie and not being a ‘dick’) it’s going to be the Fargo with monster tires on ...although now you mention fat bike, the ICT might come ...
Hopefully I will see some of you there !
