Having toyed with the idea of upgrading some of the parts on my current 29er; primarily forks, brakes & drivetrain (I already have a pair of wheels). I noticed that on Monday Bike-Discount.de were offering last year’s Radon ZR Race 29er 7.0 for approximately £700 plus postage as their ‘daily product’.
Although the offer has now passed it got me thinking; while I appreciate that it’s all ‘Original Equipment’ the XT drivetrain, Rock Shox Sid forks, Formula brakes & Race Face finishing kit would have provided my faithful steed with a nice little face lift and potentially a slimmer waistline.
Ramblings aside has anyone had any experience (good or bad) of buying a new bike just to harvest its parts and selling on the left over bits (perhaps as a rolling chassis) to recoup some of the initial outlay?
