Hey all this might sound rushed as I'm still fuming..
Basically my mech hangar sheared off this afternoon, snapped straight down the middle.
It just taken the bike off the train and jumped on it.. Was probably doing about 3-5mph and crunch.
The rear mech went into the wheel.
The damage is:
About 5 snapped spokes so the wheel needs to be rebuilt and trued with all new spokes.
The mech is trashed, all bent and busted.
The chain is trashed.. Twisted and a write off.
The rear gear cable ansa is trashed (frayed).
options?
get it fixed 😆

Yep. And be thankful it's not a new frame as well!
It depends on the bike in question, I guess it's a commuter use only bike? (As you mentioned removing from train). What is it?
Annoying when this happens, especially as it's generally due to user error, either not having the adjuster screws on the mech adjusted correctly or else not noticing that either the mech hanger has loosened or that the mech has loosened. did it myself 3 week back, chain dropped inside the rear cogs when moving at speed. Mech fine and mech hanger fine but 2 spokes broke and one spoke pulled clear of the rim taking nipple and eyelet with it. New rim and wheel rebuild required!
hit ebay for a new wheel and mech. Buy a new chain, cable and hanger.
Fit the above or get someone else to do it and set it up right.
Be very careful with your first few gear changes after you've have your bike on the train as obviously something bad is going on. Is it the way you are putting it in the rack?
Maybe you should get an Alfine rear wheel.
You shouldn't jump on your bike, some parts are delicate and can bend or snap.
