You get discount for all sorts with them.
I've smiled nicely and said I work in the outdoors for years...

Flick through some walking mags in a supermarket. Normally a code on an advert somewhere.

Also 15% discount with membership of YHA/SYHA/CTC etc.

Though seems most stuff is cheaper elsewhere anyway.

There used to be an automatic discount code for DofE - and my wife as volunteer / staff would get IIRC 20%. Not sure that's moved on as they revamped the membership / card bits.

I got a decent code discount online / in store with John Muir Trust, as above they give many organisations a discount. Still pretty good store to go to IMO.

If you are a dofe volunteer you can get your own rather than asking others to abuse theirs. If it gets abused it will be taken away.

The volunteer codes (higher discount rate )are person specific so it'll be noted who's abusing.

The ones for participants are just open as noted above you can get the same discount with a. Quick Google online.

Didn’t really matter there was no intention to abuse anyone’s discount, went into branch and they were happy to oblige 15% discount so all good and no one offended. 😀

Just don't try it with your car insurance.
