Looking for something to use on my 29er HT n the road. Apart from Schwalbe Gs anything else out there I should consider? Still want some grip off road as well oh and tubeless 🙄 After 7 weeks of lockdown the High Rollers are beginning to drag 🤔 Maybe selling my converted CX bike a month before wasn't the smartest move and maybe I should have thought about this when the lockdown started 🙄

I use a semi-slick on the rear for lockdown riding. Works OK. A Specialized 2.6 .

Maxxis Ikon or Minion SS depending on how much grip off road? Both would be crap in wet mud though

I use Schwalbe Big Apples 2.35". The volume makes them pretty useful offroad and they roll well onroad.

But I'd be looking at the Gs if I was replacing them.

I've popped summer tyres on our bikes - either Rocket Ron, XR2 or Mezcal. So much better on road, great fun off road.
XR2's feel squirrelly in corners compared to the faster Mezcal's. RR's feel 'meh' but they are the cheaper casing.

How much volume do you want/need for the road? You could just use larger volume 'gravel' 700c tyres, such as the Panaracer Gravel King SK's in 43mm. Pretty nippy on the road and not too shabby off-road.

Ikon is bearable on the road and pretty capable off-road as long as it’s dry-ish.

I use Ikons or Barzos for trundling around a mix of tarmac, forest road, farm track and a few slightly rocky bits

I haven't been on the properly bike for months due to poor heart health (so can't actually comment on how good they are), but I've bought a pair of Vittoria Terreno XC tyres to go on my Swift for just that sort of riding. They seem to be a big version of the Terreno Dry gravel tyre.

They seem very large volume for 2.1" tyres (compared to the 29x2.0" they replaced).
