the item has ended now, but a friend of mine in convinced he's missed a real bargain (he was the 2nd highest bidder)

there's too many question marks for me.. would you have any?

wasn't sure whether or not this should go in CHAT or BIKE forum... as it's chat about a bike part ❓

Generally if you have to ask the question, you already know the answer 😆

i do know the answer, just wondering if anyone else picked up on the obvious alarm bells, or if i've become (more of) an old cynic

alarm bells? such as? the seller has been on ebay since 2005, UK based with 156 feedback. okay not allot of information aside from the stock mfg and stk photo's? I would probably ask more info before buying but as it was an auction thats tempting enough for most people. you put an auction on ebay at 99p for an item costing £1000 you takes your chances... your mate put their highest bid in..who's to say the other bidder didn't have £600 as theirs?

I've spotted "MTBbargains" and a couple of other used parts "traders" on ebay and with their own crappy sites, but I've always assumed it's just tweenagers trying to turn a couple of quid...

I notice most of the photo's look like they've come from a website...

34 TALAS 26 160 FIT CTD w/Trail Adjust

http://mtbbargains.wordpress.com/

Listing the RRP is just a trick to get new golfer's hot and bothered as they've not quite understood that nobody but a mug pay's list price these days...

But they generally just seem a bit amateurism rather than evil fraudsters.

it's the stock photos and the fact that they're not all even of the same fork... but, yes good feedback. just seemed strange to me.

and muddy, i know how ebay works, and i know the winner could have gone up to £600, that's not the point, he was saying what a bargain it seemed, i think he had a lucky escape and it went for a low price because other people thought like i did...

I wouldn't touch Fox 34 CTDs either, dodgy advert or not.

Nothing too bad. If you feel £400 is a good price for a new fork without warranty then go for it. Nothing sinister there I don't think. Pay by Paypal and if it doesn't look new or quite right when it arrives then get the money back. Not tooooo much risk, just relies on the buyer deciding an amount they'd be willing to pay.

I wouldn't touch Fox 34 CTDs either, dodgy advert or not.

Agreed dot look dodgy, not putting actual photos up can affect price but if they're new you don't need photos...plus if you pay on CC through PP you should be covered if the goods are not as described.
