Does anyone own a Bird Aeris AM9 and a YT Jeffsy? Which do you prefer (and why) ?
I have an AM9, and it's great. I'd like an Izzo to compliment it but YT seem to be really struggling to deliver on the moment- demand is high and parts are getting delayed left right and centre.
With Bird they are generally up front with supply and in the UK they are probably easier to contact. This would influence my buying process.
Not quite what you asked but worth considering
I have a Jeffsy29 pro race, after finding a crack on the downtube (under the plastic guard which isn't cracked) I was about to order an AM9 frame to build up with the majority of the parts from the YT but the med/long was out of stock and I ended up getting the crack repaired instead. YT insisted it was caused by an impact and not covered on warranty (I'd owned the bike just over 5 months at the time), despite the guard not being damaged. I wouldn't consider buying another YT and while I have no personal experience of dealing with Bird I hear nothing but good things from owners I've asked about them. AM9 is top of the list if I have any more problems with the Jeffsy
Thank you both. I have five year old capra but I'm leaning towards the Bird.
Having seen people I know struggle with YT and them dealing with problems (of which there are many), and also seeing friends with Birds not have any of these problems, I know where my money would go.
No doubt Brexit will make it doubly hard to deal with them after January as well.
I've had five years of excellent support from YT. Can't fault them really, and the capra's been great. Bird's frames don't look as pretty but I'm anticipating it'll be easier to do a bearing change.
I've ordered an izzo. yt delayed the order a month ago band said they would refund some of the delivery cost and haven't.
I asked them to remove their fidlock bottle off the order as there were some reports it rattles and they took 3weeks to respond and I've not had anything refunded yet.
I take it they are going through a particularly bad patch as they can't always be like this.
Considering cancelling and going for a aether9c.

Or it could be doubly easy because of the new uk shop and service centre in Surrey.

Stuff like this is off putting. I've always been really negative about carbon fibre and every time I think I should get over myself I see another punctured downtube or shattered chainstay. A mate of mine recently had a huge crash when his carbon bar broke into 2 bits on a bumpy bridelway.
I quite fancy a lightweight, shorter, sharper handling bike to contrast my Geometron and a Jeffsy was on my shortlist.
My mates experience includes the shop in the UK. Less than helpful and took weeks to respond and refund a bike that was delivered destroyed. They just referred warranty to Europe.
I've seen and heard too many bad things to ever go for a YT. Shame as they look ace.
I have an AM9 now and previously had a 2018 Capra 29er. I originally wanted the AM9 but it wasn't out in time so I went for the Capra instead. I didn't dislike my Capra at all and subjectively it was probably a nicer looking bike but I do think the AM9 is a better bike. I always found the Capra was quite bobby on the climbs, whereas the Bird doesn't seem to bob much at all. Add in to that Ben & Dan are brilliant to deal with as well.
