very interesting, if a little long.
in summary, take growth hormone if you're getting on a bit and starting to creak and have a spare few thousand quid.
don't touch EPO or steroids unless you really want to win non-competitive events as your knob will fall off and you'll have a heart attack.

I was part of a trail at the AIS in the late 90's to develop the test for EPO. Sadly I got the placebo, the guys who got the good stuff indeed said it was like being turbo-charged. Interesting article.

Swings and roundabouts, growth hormone has been linked to age related diseases (heart disease, diabetes, cancer etc)

Thanks - interesting article

@Trimix - almost all of them did

EDIT: as I was reading it it just became obvious to me that the market for HGH must be massive amongst the Hollywood set.

Very good.

Also, for a really unpleasant look into the world of organised doping, look into the East German State Plan 14.25. Frightening.

Im always the last up the hill with my riding mates - makes me want to pop a few pills for a month just to whip their arses and enjoy the look of shock on their faces.

Trouble is when do you stop and at what cost (£/Health). As well as the fact it cheating.

But reading that you can see the atraction and how competitive pressure would make you take it.

I also enjoyed this article about the cat 3 racer in the US who was recently caught:
