[Closed] Does anyone buy Lupine lights these days?

Don't know - but I've had several offers for the Wilma on the road bike. (it is uprated with the new board, etc)
In fairness I might take someone up on it if its good enough.
They continually go for good money on eBay - think its just the initial cost that puts most off.
Wired remote for high/low, proper battery, quality manufacturing is a big plus over the chinese stuff.

I've got a Piko, not a Bluetooth one though, ran it helmet mounted (with the battery on the helmet too) last year for riding/commutes, now have it on a go-pro mount under my garmin as i have a Joystick on the helmet

its been back once under warranty, bike-discount sorted it quite quickly, was my own fault i think, i stretched the wire and dislodged something in the light

Thanks. The Wilma with wired remote sounds good, but I'm afraid it wouldn't work for me as I'm riding a recumbent. I've been thinking that a Bluetooth remote might be useful.

Thanks also for the beam shots. Do you think the current Piko would work mounted on the bike for fast road riding? I ride mainly on single-track roads and B-roads. The beam shots look like it might not light up the verges close to the bike. Also, what's the reach like, and do you find it's difficult to adjust it between maximum range and avoiding dazzling other road users? Finally, is it usable on the lower power settings? I'd need to maximise battery life for long rides.

Never been on a recumbent so couldn't say.
Although I'm sure they might look at extending the cabling .
Or buy one secondhand and extend it yourself.

I've had a few Lupines in the past.
I've even got a first gen Betty that's been sat doing nothing for a couple of years.*
I'd not spend that much again on a light but at the time there wasn't anything near it performance wise.
*Got it out the other day and it still runs perfect unlike some of my newer lights.

A certain well known MTB magazine had a couple of Lupines in the current issues lights test.....

you get an extension cable in the box, its a single click on the lamp to change the brightness

Do you think the current Piko would work mounted on the bike for fast road riding?

most of my rides are around 30kph, commute has some really narrow roads, which is why i had it helmet mounted so i could look around, beam is fine, I'm sure it will be fine mounted under the Garmin as ill be filling any gaps with a the helmet

3 step mode was, 1200, 470 and 50 lumen

in 4 step mode its 1200, 750, 470 and 50 lumen

your looking at 2 hours on full with the stock Piko 4 battery

four4th do a cheap bottle battery for Lupine which is 5200mAh

My mate Dan was the UK agent for Lupine until a few months ago. I'll ask him if he knows who it passed over to (gone are the days of big uk presence and distribution im afraid!).

Great products, but ludicrously expensive. First thing he did when he had to hand his demo lights back was buy an Exposure!

I've had a Rochlit (rear light) and a Go-Pro Piko mount from Flatoutcycles in the last year and both were dispatched same/next day

i had a helmet mount from Leveret when they sold direct, again next day

Have a look at flatoutcycles.Co.UK they do Lupine and often have second hand stuff too.

I have two Picos, two Wilmas (not the very latest versions) and a Neo with a selection of batteries. Not the cheapest but work well, the bits are mostly interchangeable and they are very reliable.

had a lupine nightmare lion (halo) for over 10 years (bought it 2002!), used it for commuting and nightriding regularly,all the years, all the crashes,it never failed..
but finally the batteries where a bit weak and LEDs where tempting,
so I played a while with several chinese lights until my magicshine charger melted and burned the kitchen floor..
it was just luck that I noticed it early enough..
went back and bought a (thirdhand) wilma, did the led upgrade and use it since two years now without any issues..just perfect !
(and for commuting I added a secondhand maxx d, barmounted..)

Thanks. I'm still trying to weigh up the pros and cons of the Piko. I'm also looking into the alternatives, but going around in circles! I'm interested in the wireless remote for the new Lumicycles. I phoned Lumicycle and they said they'd let me know when the remote becomes available - I think they said about 3 weeks.
