What's wrong with building a bike out of wood / bamboo?

Probably nothing if built properly - some look strong, even pretty cool if done by someone who knows what they're doing. These however, look like they'd fold going off a curb.

I've ridden a bike with a bamboo frame - it worked fine, didn't feel that much different to an aluminum frame to be honest.

They do look a bit ghetto.

There's plenty of nicely made bamboo frames out there, but rarely with a bamboo fork...

If it's a joke it's too niche for me.

I'd happily watch somebody else ride them.

Could be a new niche. He could form a splinter group.

Please, please let that be real. You buy them and get your mates to film your first ride for us 🙂

(We would probably 'chip' it to help fund it)

Bamboo isn't wood, it's grass. Everyone loves a pun pedant.

Hang on - his 'fatbike' forks are clearly the same ones that are currently on his scooter..so not sure that the clearance is going to be fantastic.

What an absolute bellend.

Classic - man posts picture of forks on internet - gets called a bellend. hate to see what you call your friends.

Ive had many a conversation with this guy in the old shop and his hearts in the right place , he is as mad as a box of frogs i agree but in a good way. Thats where innovation comes from.

although occasionally things slip through the net.....

Have to agree. Those sorts of insults are for the narrow minded, who would never dream of trying anything different.

This sort of creativity/thinking outside the box sort of engineering should be encouraged/applauded (even if it is shit)

Fork advertised in March then this ad from September says-

back injury meant never got round to using

Do we think the two are related?

These are quite something. I'm sort of impressed but also sort of scared.

Good for him for getting stuck in and making something.
Not sure he should offer them for sale though.
