Was just looking for a bearing... 6802 and before i went into the garage i was thinking "do i actually have any"

Turns out i do... 16 of them !!! Considering they're £5 a pop, that's pretty good going.

While i was looking i also found 13 sets of brake pads that i don't even know what bike they're for, let alone when i actually owned them !

You know those yellow blocks got holding shimano brake hose while you tap in a barb? I had about 20 of them.

I've got a pretty decent handlebar collection too

I had a clear up of my garage recently - found 3 saddles, a set of brakes, a coil for an ohlins shock, lots of brake pads, lots of various nuts and bolts, two stems, some handlebars, grips and a few brake adaptors.

Put it all in one box to take photos and "sell" but i havent got round to it yet.

I used to bulk order pads for trips to the Alps and such like and have lots for brakes I don’t even have anymore.

I also have about 4 or 5 Reverb bleed kits in various stages of destruction.

Just shy of putting a complete bike together for a mate who'd had hers stolen. Had lots of other stuff left over too.

Had a big clear out before moving house and sold most of my tat.
Still have more than enough to build more than a complete bike including a custom built frame that's still in the box it came in. Two Pike 29er forks, two Fox X2 shocks, one brand new Rockshox shock, various wheels three of which have Chris King hubs, three cranks, three spare dropper posts and more tyres than the Maxxis UK importer...
I don't even count bearings, brake pads and consumable in there as spares.
Surely everyone has loads of stuff like that?

I know I've got three Cannondale branded road stems in slightly different lengths (90/100/110 mm IIRC). I've also got the (unused) Cannondale branded saddle to go with it. I'm keeping those for when I sell the bike as the new owner can tweak fit if needed.

I've got loads on old discs in various sizes. Luckily really, as I bent a rotor a couple of weeks ago and was able to throw an old rotor on.

I've also got a fair collection of old Magura brakes and associated brake pads. Annoyingly, I left them all at home when I went on my last road trip and experience brake failure. If I'd brought my spares, I wouldn't have lost two days riding and had to buy emergency replacement Shimano Zee's I didn't really need or want! 🙄

Inner tubes. Like hundreds of them. I couldn't bear to bin them from my bike shop puncture repair days. I need to start imposing my two patches and that's it.
And a ridiculous amount of cable outers. But never an inner when I need one.
I also have dozens of chainrings from 1x conversions. I keep them to use as ninja throwing stars in the event of zombies

I have a draw in my garage where I chuck the free 'tools' that come with furniture (and sometimes other stuff). I could probably melt down all the hex keys and form a boat to take me to sweden.

Inner tubes.

Bag of Maxxis, IRC and Hutchinson Green DH tubes. ****ing awful things I still have years later. Keep meaning to sell them to idiots on the vintage DH page. (fair warning, I will advertise them as idiots only).

I have actually bagged some by size with the intent on throwing them at the IKEA parts desk next time I visit.

I cleaned out my camelbak a while ago, and found a set of spare pads for some brakes that I'd stopped using before I bought the camelbak

If I have anything in good condition is goes on eBay so don't tend to have much other than a lot of handlebars of many types as don't tend to sell them for some reason.

I now try and sell EVERYTHING. Life's too short to hoarde,

Then it's just a case of trying not to be annoyed about the small amount of times you need something you got rid off - but I feel it's evened out by the 99 things you didn't ever need that you made a few pound from

Even after a massive clearcut with loads of stuff moved on we still seem to have loads. Mainly sell on here and Pinkbike, cant be bothered with ebay.

Was doing a check over the spare pads we have to get the next order in for some Race Matrix Guide RE pads as we are down to the last two sets which will need to go in soon.
Found a bag of Saint pads that Abigale hadn't put into the pool.
Also found 20 sets of Racematrix XT/XTR pads, mixture of finned and normal and a few sets of other brands. We only have the one XT brake now which is on her jump bike.

Can't wait till they have another Peatys Bike Bonanza

My son said he’d like a hardtail mtb.

I decided to see what spares I had and what new bits I needed to build one.

You know how this story ends.

I have a selection of chains I should probably bin.

A stem and a few mechs that are knackered and I am not sure why I am keeping them.

Some tyres that I am probably never going to use.

There is no way I could build a bike from the crap in my garage.

I usually sell anything of any use if it has been sitting there too long.

I also have about 10 pedal spanner’s 😂

I have multiple old chainsets, multiple seat posts stems etc.... All of which I have no intention of ever using again but you never know.

I had lots of spares and went on a selling spree. I sold a very lightly used hope pro4 rear hub 142x12. 32 hole, black with xD freehub body. Got £75 for it.

Shortly after, I found out that hope no longer support the hope cassette so when this one wears out, I'll need a new freehub body, which will probably cost me more than £75. 🤦🏼‍♀️

Today's stock check shows 5 pairs of new 30/42 XTR M985 chainrings but I do have 2 bikes with that drive train.

Also 11 spare Hope V2 floating discs but 3 of my bikes use them.

We got broken into a few times, a couple of years back and one of the casualties was all my organisers of spares. That was really frustrating but it's almost more alarming just how quickly I've built up an equally huge amount of spares again. Like, where do these ti bolts come from? How on earth do I have so many brake adaptors? Why did I keep these clearly seized bearings?

Had a bit of a clear out a while ago so only the "bare necessities" now (read: one draw instead of multiple boxes).

One of the things I got rid of was a used 9 speed chain from c2004, in a Nescafe jar with some dried up degreaser. I had actually been topping up the degreaser until about 2009, just in case.

Good collection of rr mechs, 9sp cassettes and chains, 27.2 seatposts, mono mini brakes, managed to downsize on the 26 straight forks so now just have 1 spare pair per bike …… hopefully enough onza pedals and cleats to last the rest of my lifetime …….

Had a large collection before lock down and was going to create a 'clear out' advert but decided to donate the lot to a local bike recycling charity - even bunged this in as no longer got used... hopefully, the bike and parts have brought others the joy I get from biking
