I can't seem to see any. I was looking to get the cranks the same length as the road cranks on my other bikes, but it seems only XTR race are available in 172.5.....

Needs to be HT2

Why not?

A good fit essential on a road bike but not so much on an mtb perhaps?

Exactly - you don't sit in the same position for hours and hours on a mountain bike.

Is 2.5mm going to make a difference at all? Even on a road bike?

I'm not sure about 2.5 mm but 5 mm is enough for my knees to notice on a mountain bike.

I also wanted 172.5 so that I could use my Stages on the mtb when riding on road etc.
