I noticed at the weekend when putting the bike into the back of the car, that there is a little bit of play (.5 - 1mm) in my Hope Bulb hub when moving the wheel. Do I need the bearings replaced or is this something more sinister. I have never changed the bearings in the hubs that I have had for more than 13 years.
How much would a LBS charge to replace such items?

shouldn't cost more than 45 quid inc labour, although it doesn't matter so much if you run sealed cartridge bearings on a while as long as you catch them before they break up as that makes them harder to remove.
