I bought them on impulse so let's ignore the various pro's & con's, if they break I promise not to cry..

So, now I'm worried about tightening the stem, shifters & brake levers too much. Any good practical advice? I only paid £30 so I don't want to spend another £40 on a torque wrench but I have seen the Ritchey Torque key which is fixed at 5nm and is just about within budget. Do I need something? I've seen a few posts around suggesting no but most seem to be from experienced people who just know what feels right. I simply don't know what 5nm or anything else feels like so "just do it by hand" isn't really going to help - something a bit more practical/objective would be really appreciated though.

The principle I work on is tighten the part in question reasonably gently, go for a ride, and if it moves tighten it a little be more till it doesn't.

Sounds good, I can work with that.. A bit of toothpaste to help it grip?
