£20 seems step for the bearing service kit - I've seen bearings only on ebay for £3 - do I actually need the proper kit with nuts and seals etc or will I get away with the bearings only? Also, any special tools or is it easy to bodge?

Cheers

Depends what the issue is really, if it's just that the bearings are shagged then you should be fine as long as you get the right ones. Only issue I had in doing mine was getting the plastic seal out, which required either a tool or the right sized bolt, so if you're not doing that it should be easy enough. Full replacement didn't fix the play in mine though!

Cheers - I'll give the bearings a go for £3 - tempting to just get some more pedals from Carbon Cycles if that doesn't work for £33 rather than shelling out £20 for valut service

There is also a bushing in these pedals. That might need replacing. I pull it out with a pick or any means necessary and then very tentatively tap a new one in.
