So i going to service my rockshox tora 302 fork on my rockhopper tomorrow and been looking at all the guides/manuals

Problem is there so many and many have different views on how to do it i need some advice from those who have done service with simular fork.

questions:-

Is it worth removing the lower leg seal+Foam rings?

And if not can i spray isopropyl alcohol/degreaser into the lower legs with the seal+foam ring still inside without worry as manual seems to says?

If i do remove the lower leg seal/foam ring, can it be done this way,Part 4-8.??
Ie without needing a "special seal insertion tool"

That all, i know where to put grease ie springs/seals and only small amounts:)

cheers if anyone can help

Do a search on Youtube for sramtech, there are videos of the full procedure, the manuals are on sram site.

Unless you are replacing them, don't remove them. Just clean and grease/oil them.

i ofc checked the videos but tbh they dont help much in relation to my fork

main issue was if i dont remove the seal+foam rings can i still spray the isopropyl alcohol or/and degreaser inside the lowers to clean ?

And also does it matter if foam rings a bit dirty...?

As i dont want to damage the seal/foam rings by doing so.

if it wont then il just put some oil on the foam and then leave.

The foam rings can be removed and cleaned then soaked in oil and replaced unless they are damaged or worn.
You could just clean it out with TF2/GT85 if you worried about damaging seals.

If you're just looking for a clean-up type of service then follow the instructions for "Fox Quick Service Guide"- will do every thing you need, but you'll also need to add 10ml of 15w fork oil into each leg before refitting the foot nuts.Oil change at the top is as simple as removing the top cap/lockout lever(don't lose the o-ring that sits underneath), undoing the damper and emptying the chamber, and then refilling(correct amount of oil can be found on Sram's techy site, and i'd recommend something slightly heavier), make sure the lockout is set to open for this procedure, or it won't come out/go back in.

ok so no need to remove the seals+foam rings just spray isopropyl alcohol into the lowers and maybe add some oil to the foam rings and some grease to the seal

i going to do a spring service also, but that isnt too bad, damper wise mine soo basic there no need to remove it but just do a typical oil change.

p.s would you use degreaser/muc off inside the legs or will isopropyl alcohol surfice for cleaning them?

Isoprop is better than muc-off IMHO as it is less likely to cause damage to seals etc

just to confirm i just have to remove the lockout turnkey(snapring) then fill the damper up with the required amount?

no need to remove the tora 302 damper then

correct?

No you need to take out the top off the damper to fill with oil.I've just done it , you will need to remove the circlip then the turdkey, then you'll see the plastic 24mm top cap. be VERY careful taking this out as the corners of the nut will round off, mine did and I use pretty good quality tools. As you pull it out oil will come out with the assembly so get a bucket ready then turn fork upside down and empty rest of old oil.

With regards to the lower leg seals, I would remove the lowers and then take the foam rings out before cleaning the whole lot up.
It is fairly easy to remove them, just take your time & be careful not to over-stretch them, split of deform them.
They are only held in by their own shape/elasticity.

To clean them, I dry them as much as I can & then soak them for a while in some clean fork oil. give them a few squeezes, dry them out again and replace the fork oil for another small quantity of new oil. I let them soak in this while cleaning the rest of the fork & then stick them back in just before the lowers go back on.

With regards to the main wiper seals - unless you are having specific issues with them I wouldn't remove them.
