Feasible for a competent mechanic? What about for an incompetent one? 😉
I've honed bushings before with great results, hut never fitted. If you've done it did you fabricate a tool of have to buy one?
What fork? some need the buses sizing in situ which I wouldn't try to do and requires specialist tools. some are just straight fit and forget

I have some Recon 29ers which are heavy.
I have fitted the much lighter uppers from my 26er revelations, but there is some play.
Think new bushings might make it useable.
It would probably be financially cheaper to send them away to be sorted rather than buying new forks given the current prices.
I did some bushings once on a set of Zocchi's, the sizing involved tapping the bushings up and down inside the leg as the surface was slightly tapered...
I made a tool out if some threaded rod and a washer that I cut the edges off and ovalised the centre hole... used this to tap the bush in, but it could also be poked through and used to pull the bush out as well..
Not tried Rock Shox yet... it seems to be something that doesn't need doing so often on more modern forks...
