I have seen the Dissent gloves featured in FGF before but have rejected them on price grounds. However the missus is struggling for ideas for my Xmas present so I might ask for these.
BUT, I have extremely cold hands, most of the recommendations on here for winter gloves wouldn't do me for a slightly chilly summer day. So any other suffered from permafrost fingers tried the Dissents?
Can you really cover all the glove bases?

I'm happy with them down to a couple of degrees over zero but below that still need to go for the Aldi lobster mitts as also get cold hands easily.  Ultimately I think any fingered glove is a compromise over a mitt for pure warmth but they do do a pretty good job with the full three layers and long cuff which keep your wrists warm as well.

It's very handy being able to take off the outer layer if you overheat on the climbs and then back on for rain or longer descents. Plus good dexterity for the road bike unlike some more padded styles if that's an issue for you and on a cool but wet spring day the silk inner + waterproof outer is a nice non-sweaty combo.

As commented elsewhere do make sure you size up large enough.  Then the combination of silk inners and cordura mid-layer has enough room for air to get trapped and also avoid cutting blood flow.

Oh and being able to wash the inners separately is great to avoid smelly glove syndrome without knackering the waterproofing of the outer.

The fancy box and silly little hangers in the package can do one though. Just bumps the price with little real benefit.

Not sure I’m hugely sold on mine- just coming into my second winter with them.

- silk liners are great, I’ve used them to make summer gloves happier first thing on cold autumn mornings

- knitted (?) liner has been an unmitigated failure for me. The cuff grips tightly enough to slow down the blood flow. I couldn’t work out why I was getting cold/numb hands on rides until I swapped them for the silk liners instead and immediately my hands warmed up. I’ve tried stretching them but haven’t got there yet- you’ve reminded me I need to try again. Might just be me though!

Both outers seem ok. I’m not sure there’s that much differentiation between them but that might be a breathability thing- I’ve never got my hands hot enough to notice.

I love the concept and they’re well made but they haven’t worked for me so far. Slightly regretting not sticking with gore tbh.

In my opinion they cover most autumn/winter/early spring conditions but not really cold. Considering the layering options you get I don't think they are especially expensive. I haven't noticed the problem swanny853 mentions with wrists, but I am skinny.

I sent mine back a couple of years ago - nowhere near warm enough in my opinion. Not a patch on the galibier ones for a third of the price. As others have said, it's a good idea, but ....

I haven't used the Dissents but I do have super cold hands- 35 years of diabetes probably- and I've found 2 good options- Perfect Curve Glacier Gloves, and pogies.

Pogies, awesome. Wear normal gloves, stay super warm. Quite unsettling on tech stuff though so I tend to only use them for XC, snow rides, etc. Mine are cheapies but absolutely gamechanging in the real winter.

The Perfect Curves- full of disadvantages. They're drysuit neoprene, perfectly waterproof, totally unbreathable. Wear them on the wrong day and they'll fill with sweat, they are for COLD. Not massively tough, they're made of rubber foam after all. Need careful and regular washing (and drying- again, 100% waterproof, they stay wet if you're not careful) or they end up stinking like you've had your hands inside something dead. And they're thick and spongy so it's a bit like having 2 sets of foam grips on, not good for feel. And when muddy they're slippy.

BUT. They're warm like no other glove I've ever tried. Like, the next best I've had can keep me functional, but these can almost always keep me comfortable (for some reason I find it hard to warm up in them, but easier to stay warm). The waterproofness is super useful sometimes- get them muddy? Wash your hands in a stream.

I love mind, despite all the considerable downsides. The feel stuff could be a dealbreaker for some people but I've raced enduro and dh in mine and the loss of feel is a good tradeoff for the warmth and for keeping my hands fully functioning.

Aye, I’d hung on to my big Gore gloves for proper cold weather but they’re too hot most of the time (I am in the south east, so not as consistently baltic as some, but my hands do run coldish).

Slowoldman- I don’t think my wrists are exactly chunky and they don’t feel tight, they feel lovely. My hands just go numb after about 10-15 minutes!

If I can get the warm liners to work I think I’ll be pretty happy with them. For what it’s worth Macwet rain gloves make an excellent ‘even lighter’ shell for autumn.

I bought the full outer dissent gloves after asking on here for some waterproof gloves a few months back. On their own I do not think they are that warm, but they're totally waterproof in heavy rain. I also bought some merino liners (not dissent) to go inside in case it is wet and cold, I think this combo will work very well although I have still to try both in those conditions

Best gloves I've ever owned were some £30 Altura Night Vision gloves which were basically an insulated outer waterproof shell with a thin synthetic liner.

They saw me through a ridiculous number of winters riding, Scottish winter hillwalking and even some big British Columbia winter snowshoeing expeditions.

I figured the Dissents would be a worthwhile replacement but they're too snug to be useful in winter (and I sized up especially) as the waterproof outers aren't insulated but they're too fitted to fit anything but the thinnest liner underneath.

So yeah, size up! I think using winter gloves with liners is the best solution, clammy hands are guaranteed to pull your glove inside out otherwise...

I think this is going to be a no then!
I have big hands and need at least XL or even XXL in some makes so I don't think I would have much room in the Dissents
Back to my motley collection of gloves which do include the legendary Aldi lobsters

What @Northwind said basically.

Galibiers are very good but anything OK in a set of Pogies will work wonders albeit a bit faffy and not sexy.

They worked well today in some really foul wind, rain and hail. A bit faffy if you stop and take gloves off, but I was never cold - and I lost all feeling in my feet! Wish there was a lobster out option to go with the liners.

I had some and found them great for the weather/cold, the layering system works, the negative is having to put take off 3 pairs of gloves, so I sold mine too much faff

I've always been happy with my (now 10 years old) assos system gloves - liner, fingered & lobster gloves.
The biggest difference for me is wearing liners with whatever outer glove suits the conditions. I also have sealskin gloves and others. For very cold I have a pair of bright yellow 25 year old Cannondale 2 finger lobster gloves.

Where/what pogies do you guys suggest?
Not for me, but my oh... her fingers freeze mid summer, and cold hands is the real limit of getting her out in the winter!

Cheers
