[Closed] Disk rotor marked for resin pads only?

I picked up some cheap shimano disks and they're marked with 'Resin only'. I'd never heard of that before - thought a disk is a disk.

Would sintered pads make it too hot and damage the disk?

Yep. The ‘resin only’ discs are cheaper metal. Sintered etc pads won’t destroy them *immediately* but they’ll fail when they want to go, not when you expect.

Obviously not going to catch fire but be extremely careful. Personally for the cost of discs, I wouldn’t.

cheers - wish I'd realised when I'd bought them. Might have to use resin pads for a while....

be ok for use on the rear at least -- less need for the sintered pads.

Ran one that i'd been given, on the rear (for no better reason than it was the correct size) with sintered pads. No problems with it, it wore out eventually, just as all the previous normal discs did, can't say I really noticed any difference with it.
