...or Malvern actually. After what seems like a long respite in the letters page, the Malvern Gazette editor has dug this one out of the postbag. I think the chaps solution sounds an excellent idea, my bunny-hopping skillz need improving... 😉
It could have been a child's face you know!
Write in suggesting wires across the paths at a cyclists neck height as being the logical progression from logs across the path and see if they print it?
Retort:
And sticking logs, wire, obtacles per say across trails doesn't enamour us to you either. BTW, we may appear out of control to you, but you'd be suprised how much control those bikers have if they've seen you - and that in fact to jam on the brakes may actually be more dangerous to you. And also, where you wearing visible clothes in the fog or dark/camo gear to walk your dog as is usual?
Sensible answer; Live and let live the countryside is for us all to share. If some of its users are rude to you, take it up with them but don't assume judgement on everyone with a bike.
i think its a good idea, it'll attract all the 15yr old DHers and they can throw some empty cans of monster energy at childen's faces as they race down the paths.
Ooh, I remember that letter. I did think at the time that it would make some of the downhill bits even more fun..
Things do seem to have got better on the hills. I remember, back in the day, when walkers would deliberately block the path to prevent me riding past them. I even had one old guy try to push me off...
Kryton - you write like you think what you say might change their opinion 🙂
All that practising on here and you still fall for the trap....

I'm sure he was wearing red socks
Ooh, I remember that letter.
only went to print last night Steve. It is rather similar to all the others though.
Ah, I thought it was one of the 'on this day ones'. There were bloody loads of letters like that when I 1st started riding the hills...
"having great fun no doubt" - classic 🙂

One can but try, and in turn express my own opinion. Baited into a response was I? I've been victim of wire and logs...
Its true though I for one have no chance to avoid those who step out in front of me
I forgot this was my fault so I am glad i read it
Her also hoping someoen breaks a kneck eh - its actually quite worrying as imagine f you did this about car driver or pedestrians etc
Some folk are just so full of hate for cyclists- i bet he gets none at home and he is just shamed by our awesomeness 😉
bloody loads of letters like that
😆
The bikleists are only half the problem obviously.
If we place poisoned steak on the trails to kill the dogs and kidnap all the children we can eradicate this evil from the countryside.
Someone had been round my local woods last week putting logs and branches at pretty regular (10 or 20 metres) intervals across some of the paths. They had even uprooted a few trees to do it. Fortunately it was all on a flat and fairly dull piece of fireroad, and all the logs were under 8 inches in diameter so it actually made the ride slightly more interesting.
The hills should just be for walkers and, strangely, horses. They aren't dangerous and unpredictable in any way or do any damage at all... 🙄
So that stream of cyclists who didnt have a prayer of avoiding anyone.... managed to avoid him? They must have mental skills or be uber lucky 🙄
The 'angry walker' type letters do make me chuckle though. They should have a countryside points of view style program on the BBC, I'm sure it'd be reet good comedy.

I've a picture of a hoof-shape-dented Yeti 575 downtube somewhere after a rampaging horse bucked its owner (the 2nd time) and charge us as we came around the corner.
BAN ALL HORSES FROM THE COUNTRYSIDE RAH RAH RAH!
Meh.
charge us as we came around the corner
How much did you have to pay him? 😆
