Retired my old crosser and planned to get a new one with discs for the 2014/15 season.
Had the bike planned and everything.
In the end a lovely Ridley scandium and carbon canti frame won my heart.
A little pocket rocket with Ultegra, TRP's and Ambrosios she'll be.

Collecting the frame Saturday and will build up over the next few months. As long as it's ready for the season.

Have you tried disc brakes in the wet? You can actually stop if you feel like it!

Those TRP CX9's are brilliant stoppers. Put them on my audaxytourerthingy, I'd be happy plummeting off the Tourmalet with them.

Spec is complete.
Mavic Open Pro CD's on Ultegra
Deda SuperZero bars, stem and post.
Concor lite saddle
New ultegra with CX70 chainset
TRP CX9's
Shimano cables, ZIPP CX tape, Swiss Stops, Challenge Grifo's, Michelin Mud 2's and Michelin slicks, KMC 10XL.

"Those TRP CX9's are brilliant stoppers. "

going back to cantis/vees after BB5's was going forward.

I chanced on a pair of CX9's 2nd hand. And i would pay new money for another pair.

love my cantis - spent a bit of a windfall on a pair of avid shorty ultimates.

Disk brakes are so wrong on a race cx.

It's about keeping the speed up.

My disc brake upgrade (TRP hylex as I run SSCX) is sat in the garage waiting to replace the 1992 LX cantis (off my first ever MTB!) currently on the bike. So I can go from a totally to just mostly shonky build in preparation for next season. Oh, and for the 24hr VPCX race (where cross doesn't belong) in May!

Also got the fork, wheels (Crest on Am Classic and a 130mm Novatec rear) waiting to go on. Just need to figure out if I go with an A2Z adapter on the rear or try and get an adapter fashioned for the odd bolt holes in the dropout (like an IS mount but wrong spacing, and for guards and rack mounting I think)...

Disk brakes are so wrong on a race cx.

It's about keeping the speed up.

I lost places in the last race of the season when my cantis a) froze and b) the mud on the wheels froze, and I couldn't stop on the downhills and so had to run them or hit a lot of trees. I know one of our two CX series runs on atypical cross terrain, more like MTB courses, and braking is a good thing there, but this was the more conventional series...
