I have an On One Maccatuskil and I would like to get a spare mech hanger but On One have told they it is discontinued. I have tried taking this up with On One but all they have said is that they don't know anywhere that can supply one and they won't be getting any more in stock as they don't do the frame anymore. Real helpful as always. My bike is only 8 months old so don't want to be scrapping it if a bend the mech hanger. I've tried gearmechhanger.com but they don't do one. It's quite a specific hanger. Here's a pic. Anyone know where I can get one please?

You could try BETD but that's a bit poor that there is no spares so soon after purchase!

Assuming you can’t get one, is it worth looking to see if any engineering companies could knock you up a few - or if someone could somehow scan it and 3D print you one?

Really bad that a frame so new from a uk company is effectively obsolete in terms of spare hangers already.

Can you not just find out which Chinese catalogue frame it is & buy one direct from the factory? Or someone else who is buying the frame & rebranding it?

Well it is On-One we are talking about.

That's really poor support from On One.

Anything looks like it matches here?

That’s really poor support from On One.

And this - if it was a washing machine they'd have to provide spares for years.

Quite a different manufacturing model though.

But I agree it's crap, but that's the respect some companies have for their customers...(albeit I think the OP doesn't actually need a replacement yet)

I've tried GMH and Andy there said they didn't do it and I'd need to contact On One.

not saying this is definitely it, but it looks pretty similar to me (albeit from the other side). Certainly a starting point for a search.

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/THRUST-Alloy-Rear-Derailleur-Hanger-for-Mountain-Bike-Frame-142x12mm-135x9mm-rear-axle-hanger-one-pair/32804805842.html?spm=2114.search0104.3.132.54254017qobTr8&ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0,searchweb201602_5_10152_10151_10065_10344_10130_10068_10324_10547_10342_10325_10343_10340_10548_10341_10696_10192_10190_10084_10083_10618_10307_10820_10301_10821_10303_10059_100031_10103_10624_10623_10622_10621_10620,searchweb201603_12,ppcSwitch_5&algo_expid=6ee910a8-e905-4d9f-88bf-ea90c35be854-16&algo_pvid=6ee910a8-e905-4d9f-88bf-ea90c35be854&transAbTest=ae803_2&priceBeautifyAB=0

Looks similar but not quite right I don't think. I'll scour the aliexpress pages to see if I can find the hanger there though. Thanks for the idea. Might have to end up ordered 2 or 3 and see which is the right one, if any of them is right.

Yes, it's crap but I suspect the answer is because it came from On One therefore it won't be a current model for very long and won't be supported once discontinued. Explains why they're so cheap though.

Yeah, that looks similar. Difficult to tell with the different angle though. What is the other thing on the right of your pic though, is that part of it?

Shame that On-One won't just tell you where they got it from/what it is though if they aren't doing the frame anymore, I suppose that would involve them admitting they're just reselling generic frames though!!

That the 'dropout' for the non-drive side. Can't see that getting damaged though really. It's not even got a thread in it to get damaged.

I think the aliexpress one i've linked to isn't right as I don't think it has a thread and the one i need does. 🙁

might be worth firing off a quick email to the seller? IME they are usually extremely keen to help, although obviously the language barrier might be a hindrance!!

I've tried On One again and they have shown me one on CRC that fits. £13 so will get that ordered now!

Why weren't they that helpful last time I contacted them?? FYI, the chap I spoke to was called Spencer and knew exactly what I needed and where to get it from.

That fourth one looks spot on; I think it should also be threaded, otherwise the holes on the inside would be chamfered.

l.e. Ah, the Vitus Energie one does look the same as well.

The real question, here, is "why are there so many different mech-hangers?"

Surely they can be standardized more than they are, at present?

This isn't uncommon from on-one. I had the same with my Race29 Carbon. Wanted a spare mech hanger a few months later and they just shrugged. Gearmechhanger helped on that occasion.

When I got my C456 they couldn't even supply the mechhanger and bolts on the day I bought the frame never mind after it was discontinued.

It does seem poor that On One can't supply a replacement hanger for a frame they're still selling, but at least you've got one now.

<span style="font-size: 12.8px;">Even</span> the Swap-out Drop<span style="font-size: 0.8rem;">-out idea wasn't universal even for On One frames!</span>

I bought a spare rear hanger when I got my last bike.

As with bottom brackets it could be standardised but there must be a reason why there are so many. When I used to work in the bike trade I think there were about 20 designs and of those about 4-5 were the most common and were used on about 80% of bikes. Not sure when that became 500+ hanger designs.

I’m amazed that shower of cretins even managed to get a frame made in the first place.

This is the reason I always buy a spare hanger with a new frame.

I've decided not to buy a particular frame in the past due to hangers not being available.

Does mean I now have hangers for bike I no longer have.

The same applies to 2017 vitus sommet/escarpe - replacement hangers not available, cant find them through the usual pattern  suppliers either. Bought the bike this year, tried to order a replacement hanger a week later to find them out of stock and seemingly unavailable. Awaiting response from Vitus.......

I'm not a mad fan of on one or anything but is it really that bad?

They dont have stock for something they no longer and probably rarely get asked for doesn't seem unreasonable. Its not lije your bike is out of action.

If it broke within the warranty they would have to put it right but thats not the case is it?

Sounds like the first time round you got unlucky with someone who knew nothing. Spencer to the rescue!

There was an issue with that supplier. Seems to be sorted now. I will investigate getting hangers sorted.

And buy spencer some donuts.

@gallowayboy

Is it the hanger on this link you need?

http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/mobile/vitus-escarpe-sommet-sentier-gear-hanger/rp-prod129577

If so, I have a couple of them.

@nairnster it is indeed, and thanks! I have rattled a cage at Vitus/CRC now (responses yesterday) so I'm hoping they'll come up with some...and I'll get a half dozen when they do.

If my son breaks it in the next week or two I may be on the cadge!

+1 PILO

I recently put a new PILO hanger on my Cube Stereo and it was clearly stiffer than the std Cube cheese one.
