Looking a set for building up a Dirty Harry for xc racing.
What's in vogue at the minute?

Yep.. They won't work properly so you'll be way faster than the pack on the downs.. What could possibly go wrong

I was looking today as I too am behind the curve, best deal I found was Shimano SLX with basic rotors & bolts from dike discount DE for less than £100.
HTH

Cheers.

Hope if you've got the cash, shimano if you don't.

Any other manufacturer if you like wasting your time with fruitless maintenance and frustration.

For XC racing Formula do power and sensible weight, but they're too expensive new. (I bought my R1s used and they are impressive)

I found have the cash buy shimano xtr other wise SLX will do nicely. I would rather have the new xtr m9000 (and I do) over a set of Hope stoppers.
