So, I'm due a repayment for overcharging that means I can have a nice family holiday this summer AND buy a new cross bike to replace the one I sold after last year's "interesting" 3 Peaks.
It'll be used for both local cross racing and 3 Peaks, so needs to be both relatively light and relatively robust, as well as for random road/off-road exploring. I'm planning on buying frame/forks only and building up (Hope Hoops 29er Crests on Pro2 probably, V Twin/X2 brakes, legacy chainset and running gear from last bike...) so know the overall weight/robustness will be dependant to a certain extent on what components I use...
Anyway, what are the collective's thoughts...?
I've got the Pro6 which is built similar to yours and feels heavier than I had hoped. In hindsight, for racing I would have gone for the DD. It's probably my fault as I think I went a size too large in the pro6.
Also, paint finish is worst on any bike I've ever had. A fly landing on the frame appears to chip the brittle finish.
