Santa left a Dirtlej Dirt Suit Core under my Christmas Tree this year so I must have been a good boy.
As with all clothing that is bought for me, by me, or loaned to me, it doesn't fit. I am blessed with short legs and a dad bod nothing ever fits me well.
Does anyone else out there in the STW community have a Dirtlej suit I can compare fit with before it is boxed up and sent back? The only reason it hasn't gone back yet is that the quality is amazing, I just want it to work but for obvious reasons can't take it for a test ride.
I have contacted a local tailor to see if they have the skills to alter the leg length without compromising the integrity of the suit but this will only solve the issue with the leg length at the zip off section.
Anyone? Anyone have any experience?

Perhaps telling us what size you want to compare it to might help...

Your location might be helpful too...

Mine doesn’t have much spare space, a good fit.  I’ve no idea what you are asking.

He wants to borrow a Dirtsuit of undisclosed size and go for a ride at an undisclosed location to see if the Dirtsuit he got for Christmas fits him.

Nah, good guess but no cigar.
@rubber_buccaneer so when you are stood up in it does the bottom section fit like a pair of trousers? So up on your crotch? Or is there some dangling space in there? I am a short arse but not a skinny one so the top half fits me perfectly in the medium but would be too tight in the small. The bottom section on the other hand is waaay too long, I have approx 20cm of extra leg length to deal with.

I am about 5’8*, 172cm tall and I weigh about 70kg/11 stone.  On the Dirtlej size checker I come up as a small but not far off needing a medium.  I don’t like baggy so I bought a small and the fit is good for me so long as I don’t want a load of layers underneath.  It is the top half that would get restrictive, mainly around the chest but the waist has little to spare too (I could do with losing a pound or two).  I can happily wear all I want to wear under a hardshell suit like this here on the sunny south coast.  Leg and arm length are spot on, verging on a little long when standing but perfect once sat on a bike.

For reference I usually buy medium size bike kit, medium most clothing actually.  32” waist jeans but for some weird quirk of American sizing prefer a size 30 in Fox or TLD riding trousers, the 32s are too loose and gradually slide down

Ahhhh well we are the same height but you have about 1.5 stone less to carry than me. Also I am short legs long body so all this combined is conspiring against me. I am going to keep it because the small will never fit me anyway, and it is such an awesome bit of kit. I will see if I can find a local tailor with skills to adjust the leg attachments to help a little bit.
A bit of a long shot but you don’t ride at QECP do you? Met a guy in a Dirtlej during a dig day a few weeks ago!

Wasn’t me.  I do occasionally ride QECP and it just so happens I was there this morning but it wasn’t Dirtlej weather.  Dry, sunny and barely above freezing conditions were pretty damn good

Edit; I should also say if you are 1.5 stone heavier than me don’t even think about the small, either look into having the medium adjusted or send it back for a refund/alternative

Also, knee pads will pull them up a bit, and you want them long over the shoes.
Edit- I would have thought.

Might not be a bad shout that Jim. Let’s see what obscene amount a tailor needs first.

If any help, I am about 6'1" / 185cm tall, 12.5 stone / 80kg with a usual 32" waist and have a medium dirtsuit. As ever on the website I fell between medium and large and like posted above I tend towards a snugger fit so went with medium. It seems to be a pretty much perfect fit for me. Don't underestimate how much the legs pull up when on a bike if you haven't already tried that. Also, I found that playing around with the waist cinch can alter the feel of the fit quite dramatically.
I wear medium in almost all bike kit.

If the medium feels right in the chest I think alteration is going to be the only answer.

I have a small and tried a medium but sent it straight back. I was rubber_buccaneers size when I bought the small and found it great but snug around the chest. After the best part of a year of home working I'm now 5kg heavier so thought I'd try the medium. It was cavernous through the chest and the arms and legs were waaay too long.

Thanks for all the input. Going to keep the medium and see what a tailor can do with the leg sections. Rode in it for the first time the other day with the legs zipped off and it was great. I was worried that hoiking the waist band up by the adjusters would give an uncomfortable ride in the stomach area but all was good.

Dry, warm(but not too warm) and dirt free after a hosing down by my wife on retunr from ride. Great bit of kit!
