A new pump track is currently under construction about 100m from my house and I was thinking it would be a great excuse to exercise N=N+1...

...then I saw how much DJ bikes are! Wowsers! How much? They don't even have gears or a front brake!

I suppose lower sale volumes

Also they have to be good enough to survive a beating

That said the lovely looking new Kona Shonky

Is £1.7k !!!!

Depends if you define £800 as expensive. You can get a Canyon Stitched for that or for another £100 a Rose the Bruce

Secondhand value holds as well

I'd buy a Canyon Stitched if I was looking for a full bike. Or a YT Dirt Love. The GT La Bomba doesn't look bad, maybe look out for a discounted 2019 or 2020 model if such a thing exists.

They're pretty good value second hand because it's a niche product but there's two types of used bikes. Ones bought or built by people who then don't get into it and never use the bike properly and those that have been used as intended and thrashed to death.

Keep en eye on Pinkbike.

Hmmm, when jumping 20 foot+ in the air, you need to trust the bike will survive the landings, with or without rider.

Cheap DJ bikes that failed self destructed their own market by virtue...

Build your own, they don't need fancy suspension and don't need to be ultra lightweight. They will be relatively light given the lack of gears, front brake, dropper etc.

And always keep an eye out for a bargain, you sometimes see DJ bikes in random sales

I bought a Calibre Astronut for £550 that I use solely for pumptrack sessions. It's a superb bike for the money.

I bought and later sold a DMR Wrath for about £200. 26” wheels, singlespeed, rigid fork, just a rear brake. Was a lot of fun on a pump track. You don’t have to spend megabucks. If you’ve got old 26” parts knocking about then find a tough old frame in a small size and get it built.

if its only for the pump track then you don't need a suspension fork, tyres are not expensive, you don't have to have fancy brakes and weight isn't an issue. you should be able to find cheap 26 inch wheels too.

I built one mainly from spare parts.

You can get a Mafia Blackjack for £450. I've no idea if it's good or not but ZOMG JUST LOOK AT IT. I want one so badly

I built up an old On One Gimp using spare parts. It looked amazing but was v short and scary so I bought a good condition Saracen Amplitude CR3 L off the classifieds for £300 and its way more confidence inspiring.

Now when I take my boy to Leeds Urban bike park I just take that instead of the big bike. The berms feel rough at such high pressures but its fun to ride.

No one bothered looking at the two adverts then?

Seller clearly has a badger problem in their garden

Two different sellers in different towns clearly have a badger problem...

While trying to sell the same bike. I’m just wondering which one is a scam, although it could be both of them.

well they're about 5 miles apart if so - go & visit both ?
(I don't buy off facebook - what's the "security" on your purchase?)

It’s the same bike. Not the same model of bike, the same bike. The photos are subtly different but the location is the same.

clearly.
Then again, it's an unumaginative (or unlucky) scammer that picks a town so close to the original
So go & visit - or ask one/both what they make of the other advert ?

I don't smell a scam, one ad is in the specific town whilst the other is in the county. Pics are different but obviously taken close together. Seems a sensible way to increase exposure.

Is it the same seller? I can't see that whilst logged out.

We've got a medium Giant STP sat in the shed if that's the sort of thing that'd tick your box.

Thanks. I’ve been offered the loan of a DMR for the time being.
