Has anyone with a Direto trainer found the max resistance limiting or wished they'd bought something with a greater max resistance / incline eg Neo, Drivo or Kickr?

I like doing hills on the trainer eg on Zwift or Bigring VR so am often in a low gear grinding away at high resistance.

Currently got a wheel on trainer which has packed  in and looking at a direct drive one so was thinking of Direto but as i seem to spend more time on the trainer than outdoors these days (and i still quite enjoy trainer rides) was wondering if its worth spending a bit more on a Drivo or Kickr

Pretty happy with mine for climbing on Zwift, a Neo might have been better for the 20% gradient simulation, but I don't expect the Neo to be anything like the £640 I paid anytime soon.

If "FRIDAY-13" code works, you can get a Direto for ~£482 this weekend  https://www.athleteshop.co.uk/elite-direto-smart-b-trainer-power-mtr-interactive ... If you are happy to wait until early May for delivery.

I got the Direto. Never had an issue with max resistance. I am not saying it accurately simulates the steep climbs ... but if your doing one of the races then the simulated climbs are accurate enough to have your legs in bits soon enough if you chasing the front group.

The Direto does 14% simulation and 1400w max ... more power than I can get close to, rarely get close to that doing a race ... so no need for more imo

if you are happy to wait until may to be told they can't deliver it, more like.

yeah heard really mixed reviews about athleteshop, some people get things ok, others have money taken as soon as order placed, but delivery date keeps getting put back again and again, then they have to chase for a refund as money already been taken.

I guess paying on credit card / paypal (if they take paypal) should be fairly safe though.

Bought from Athlete Shop here too ... arrived about two weeks later than first told; but the saving (about £200) is worth it.

I too get sent the euro plug - emailed them - an adapter was sent 1st class FOC.

I would certainly use them again.

For those happy with Zwift, have you set the trainer resistance to 100%?  The default is 50%.

Have a KICKR and rode up 15% last night, and it feels like it!  Bought reconditioned for a little more than The Directo and am delighted.

I have one, can't get near to 1400w so not an issue!

I normally set trainer difficulty to ~85%, as the max gradient in Zwift is 17% currently and the Direto can emulate 14%.

I set mine (drivo) to 50% or so - narrowish range cassette and I'm a bit of a spinner, so setup's not really suited for 14% climbs as it is

I keep getting tempted by a fully smart turbo but then I'd have to put a front mech on my turbo bike

scaled, you could have a mtb cassette (and a roadlink if needed)

50/34 compact, and an 11-25 means I use the inner ring on anything over 10% on my KICKR with 100% resistance.  One could turn down the resistance to the default 50%, but where’s the fun in that?
