A mate has lost the plate to attach the front mech to his Stumpy. Can a normal E Type be used instead of attatching a DMD front mech? Cheers

I had the same situation on a stumpy evo 2012. I bought an E type shimano mech but then it turned out I needed an additional adapter plate from Specialized which was a fiver. It also turned out to need a few thin washers to get the fit correct so it does feel like a bit of a bodge. Perhaps an SRAM mech would be a better plan?
