I'm building up a stumpy evo and need a new front mech as my current one is not direct mount. The frame has two mount holes - I think is an s1 type mount.

I was planning on running my XT triple chainset with the large cog replaced with a bash guard. I have been running this with my 3x9 SLX front mech and shifter on my current bike. Do shimano make S1 direct mount mechs or this an SRAM standard? If not I will have to replace my shifter and buy SRAM :o( will this work on an XT chainset?

Also, will a 10 speed shifter do the job? Will it matter if I get a double or triple version?

Cheers!
Dan

Any shimano e-type front mech will work. Just need to take the BB mount plate off. You should have the DMD mount plate already attached to the frame.

The SRAM mount is S3 standard.

Apologies for blatant hijack, but I've got at least 2 possibly 3/4 that will suit your frame for sale in this advert...

Used on a 2010 Enduro before I went 1x10 then it was nicked...email is in profile if you're interested...

Good to hear it will be easy, thanks for the help! The frame came without any extra mount plate so perhaps I'll need to find one? rp16v - how much are after for the XTR? MussEd - trying to work out which of those will work, I guess just the XT M770? What kind of state is it in?

Cheers!
Dan

Don't think that XTR direct mount will fit . As andysmiff1 has said you need an e type mech with the mounting plate removed .

Reviving this thread... it seems the XT E-Type requires some kind of an adapter as the frame has wider bolt spacing. Does anyone have one of these? If not, anyone got a cheap SRAM mech for sale?

Cheers!
