[Closed] Dinged rim - refusing to seal tubeless?

DT Swiss 1500 Spline wheelset. Took a proper whang coming down Ullock pike yesterday and flattened. Couldn't get the wheel sealed whilst riding so stuck a tube in to get home. Always sealed fine with maxxis tr tyres.

Got back, found two dings in the rim - not huge, probably only a 1-2mm deviation and no cracking.

Bent back into place with adjustable pliers until no ding noticable - looks great. When I stick a tyre on air still slowly comes out of the dinged location. Stick a load of sealant in - it seals for a few mins, but as soon as I put more than 25psi in it the sealant fails and it starts to piss air again.

Tyre is fine - tried another one, same thing happens.

Rim ****ed? I mean it's insured so I'd get a new wheelset, but I'm happy to ride if I can get it going again.

In other news, ghetto backer rod huck norris 0 - lakes 1.

Could be as simple as that, it’s an odd one though. The first set of wheels I used tubeless didn’t have a straight edge on them and still sealed no problem

Thought that but it's a sealed rim bed. Also - it's coming out of what seems like a gap between the rim edge and the tyre - not from a spoke hole or anything.

My Easton's are like this. Bit of extra tape around the dent, and too a hot of co2 to pop the bead, then a fair few ride/leave/reinflate cycles, and it finally sealed permanently 🙂

Maybe a small piece of mastic tape along the damage.

I'f you've paid for specialist bike insurance including this kind of damage then use it, sounds like rim won't be the same again.
