i have a set of Fox vanilla 32 r (2004) forks which are a superb fork but there apears to be some play in the front end of my bike, i was wondering whether it was my beloved fox's packing up, i have a hope xc4 (150mm rotor) brake and shimano hub (newish)but dont think these are the culprits and i see no play in the headset.

What should i do? pay out £100 and get them serviced by tftuned? Pay about £150 for some decent rock shox off ebay?

If its the forks Would tftuned sort them out properly and how long would that last etc?

thanks in advance

Turn the bar 90 degrees then rock the front if there is play then its not the forks. If there is no play and your certain its the fork it could be the bushes which would cost £75 plus delivery plus the cost of bushes. Worth it considering a new decent fork is £300+

Maybe your bushings are worn. Put your fingers on the stanchion where it meets the seal, and rock the bike back and forward. if the bushings are worn you'll feel play between the seal and the stanchion. To be honest though, after 5 years even rockshox might start to suffer from worn bushings.

Mojo might be able to fit new bushings, but the stanchions could be worn aswell, and thats an expensive fix (i'm guessing here, but probably over £200)
